Medical Language Editor - Blended Instruction
Medical Language Editors interpret, edit, and transcribe dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals. Medical language editing creates the legal documentation of medical care provided and facilitates the delivery of healthcare services and the reimbursement process. The program includes 780 hours of classroom and hands-on, distance learning study, and 240 hours of internship experience. For the transcription editing module of the program, students will be expected to work independent of classroom instruction and adhere to a formal schedule for progress. Upon completion, students will be able to sit for the Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) exam offered by the American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT).
Prerequisite(s): Demonstrated working use of the English language, typing speed of 50 wpm, and ability to hear/understand spoken language. Successful completion of a basic entry level skills test is necessary prior to acceptance.
