Introduction to Site Management of Modular Construction
The MHTI course, Introduction to Site Management of Modular Construction, consists of a series of topics or training modules spanning a two-day time period and covering four critical elements leading to the successful on-site completion of a modular home. Lecture and hands-on exercises are utilized.

Day 1
- Site and Foundation Preparation
- Overview of Optimal Scheduling
Day 2
- Complete Modular Home Set
- Finishing a Modular Home
MHTI Course Topic Description
Site and Foundation Preparation
Critical components of a properly prepared building site prior the delivery of factory built house modules will be discussed. Participants will gain knowledge of the minimum dimensional tolerances and required installed components prior to the installation of factory built house modules onto a foundation.
Overview of Optimal Scheduling
Participants will be introduced to information and techniques on how to develop a master schedule of all activities and tasks involved in modular construction from point of sale to occupancy. Builder vs. manufacturer responsibilities will be outlined.
Complete Modular Home Set
Participants will learn the procedures involved in completing a basic modular home set and be able to apply the principles to a variety of structure types.
Finishing a Modular Home
Proper procedures for finishing a modular home will be discussed along with the proper utilization of manufacturer provided “ship loose” materials.
Certificate of Completion
A certificate of completion will be awarded to those participants who have attended all topics under the MHTI course and who have successfully completed the written examinations following each topic. Because of the modular structure of the topic offerings, a participant may earn a certificate by completing the various topics at different times throughout a scheduling period as their own schedule permits.
MHTI Online Course Offering
The MHTI flagship course is now available in an online format! The course consists of an introductory module and eleven instructional modules addressing the four elements critical to the successful on-site completion of a modular home. Informative PowerPoint® presentations, custom animations, video streaming demonstrations, discussion groups, live lecture, and testing will lead the successful student to a certificate from the Institute equivalent to the one issued for the traditional classroom course.
