Testing and Assessment for Business and Industry
Workforce Development and Continuing Education can assist companies in assessing employee skills and skill levels through two standardized assessment (“normed”) instruments as well as customized, job-specific assessments.*
Test of Adult Basic Education Work-Related Foundation Skills (TABE-WF):
- Assesses foundation skills in reading, mathematics, and language
- Provides accurate data to screen for employment and plan effective occupational education and training programs
- Separate forms for three occupational clusters: 'health,' 'trade skills/technical,' and 'business/office.' A fourth form, 'general,' covers a variety of work contexts
- All forms of the TABE-WF use appropriate language and content for adults for a specific work environment
Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) for Personnel and Career Assessment
- Assesses individuals in up to eight key areas directly related to job performance
- Measures aptitude for learning and succeeding
- Separate forms for General Cognitive Abilities, Perceptual Abilities and Clerical and Language Skills
- Subtests include: Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Abstract Reasoning, Clerical Speed and Accuracy, Mechanical Reasoning, Spatial Reasoning, Space Relations, Spelling, and Language Usage
*Tests and assessments should be used in combination with other performance tools and not used as sole indicators of ability. Students must sign a waiver in order for scores to be released to employers.
