About WTC

Weatherization Training Center

Background

Located at Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, WTC was established in 1985 as a result of a partnership between Penn College and the Department of Community and Economic Development. Since its inception over 5,000 individuals have participated in WTC courses and special training events.

The WTC offers a full range of competency based training courses for persons who are employed by or subcontract to nonprofit agencies and local governments who administer home energy conservation assistance under the Weatherization Assistance Program.

WAP is funded by the Department of Energy and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. More recently additional funding has been provided by many Pennsylvania gas and electric utilities.

Affiliation

The WTC is associated with Pennsylvania College of Technology, whose history and development into one of the nation's premier technical colleges, its resources, and physical plant, makes for an excellent training environment.

WTC is a division of the Pennsylvania Housing Resource Center at Penn College under the Workforce Development & Continuing Education, which offers noncredit training and workforce development to industry and the general public.
